family-ledger helps a household turn selected forwarded statements into accounting records that can be reviewed against their original sources.

A private tool, operated by the household

The current Gmail integration reads selected statement emails and PDF attachments from a dedicated mailbox. Processing and accounting data are kept on storage controlled by the operator. This tool is under development; it is not a public bookkeeping service.

Records remain reviewable

Generated entries retain links to their source details. Entries require household review, including amounts and any unresolved expense categories.

Why Google access is requested

Google authorization lets the application read statement messages and attachments. The permission is read-only: the application does not send mail or change messages. Google grants access to the mailbox; the application's configured selection rules determine which messages it retrieves.
